My Personal Favorite...Songs

This post is inspired and driven by my chat session with a younger friend of mine (Thanks Cory). As most of the younger people would have no exposure to the older songs UNLESS influenced by their parents or uncles & aunties.

So I suppose this post can serve the same purpose and expose some really good songs to the younger folks.

A-Ha is a Super Group that even young people will know but perhaps mainly for their Mega Hit – Take On Me. Other than that song, I doubt most will even hear of their other songs. Here are 2 I really love, especially Stay on These Roads.

A-Ha - Stay on These Roads

A-Ha - Living Daylights (Theme song for James Bond - The Living Daylights)

Human League is also another household name but mainly for Don't You Want Me & Human. Heart Like A Wheel is another favorite of mine from them.

Human League - Heart Like A Wheel

Johnny Hates Jazz, best known for Turn Back the Clock, Heart of Gold & Shattered Dreams. They are all good songs but Different Seasons holds a special place in my heart.

Johnny Hates Jazz - Different Seasons

My Personal Favorite...Songs

I have always had a weakness for female singers with sweet & wide-ranged vocals like

- Mariah Carey

- Christina Aguilera

- Christina Perri

Here are a couple more that I’d discovered that have shot high up into my favorites list:

Hayley Westenra

Flower will Bloom

Dark Waltz

My Personal Favorite...Social Media Items

As a WhatsApp (or any of its equivalent like WeChat, etc) User, I'm sure you would, like me. have literally thousands of images shared by your friends, family and colleagues via the app. For me, I would delete them as soon as I can. Rarely would I keep them in my phone unless they really made me laugh or think.
Anyway, here are a few of them that I particularly like (and may have sent to you as well).

I had some of my friends who received these images from me asking me what's so funny about some of them.

OK, it's like this - if someone has to EXPLAIN a joke to you (only exception is if you're a kid), then it will no longer be funny!!!

This one is not from Whats App but is an actual screen display from an Auto Pay Machine somewhere in KL after my event.
Here are some of the nice looking pens that I have collected over the years from various places. However, they have outlived their usefulness (ie: no more ink).. Hence, time to dispose of them.

My Personal Favorite...Songs

I had discovered this superb singer by accident when someone else was watching the program on TV called Sing China Season 2.

Those who know me know that I don't really understand Mandarin, but then as they say, music transcends all languages. So I had heard this voice that I thought was so hauntingly beautiful and angelic. I love this singer despite not knowing the meaning of a single word that she was singing.
For those of you who do watch this TV program called Sing China Season 2, you would already know that I'm talking about Doris Guo.

She is unpretentious and full of talent. I truly believe she will become a mega star in 2-3 years.

Here, have a listen. Let me know what you think.

My Personal Favorite...Songs

Beth Hart - My California

I had only recently come across this beautiful song on the radio and having never watched Californication, I had no idea it was the Swan Song for the Series Finale.

Anyway, this song hits me on levels 99% of songs never seem to be able to regardless if they are from the good old days or the new / current songs. Give it a listen and see if you agree.

I wish the local radio stations would play this song more as I really love it so much.

My Personal Favorite...Songs

Something For Kate - Survival Expert

This Australian Rock Band from Melbourne is not well known in these parts of the woods and I have to confess that I have never heard of them before BUT when I heard this song on the radio, I was immediately hooked.

I hope they get more airtime and more people will get to enjoy their brand of rock. Let me know what you think!

My Personal Favorite...Songs

I've always liked this song very much but it really got the attention of the world when David Archuleta sang the song on America Idol.
As David was a strong contender, Simon thought it was a rather odd and unusual choice for him to sing and asked whether this song was chosen for him by someone else. Well, I guess David just liked the song as much as I do.
More so, as my country is in its current unenviable situation, the lyrics are oh so relevant. Please listen to the words as they are so meaningful. Especially now.
Listen to the lyrics.

Blast from the Past (no, not the movie...) - Part 2

I was cleaning out my non-digital archives and found these gems from the 90s. As you can see from the paper discoloration, if I don't get them scanned, they'll be gone.

So here they are, hope you like them as much as I did. Remember, this is 90s humor. =)

My Personal Favorite...Songs

Steveie Wonder - Skeletons

Admittedly, this is not one of Stevie's better known songs but I remember liking it when I first came across it way back in the 80's (well, 1987 to be exact).

It has a pretty funky beat and Stevie's evergreen energtic voice. I like it a lot (well, almost as much as I like Sir Duke, but then, everyone knows Sir Duke. Not this one tho')

I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

My Personal Favorite...Songs

First off, this song has been around for some time, 2007 to be exact. So I felt that if you've not heard it before, it's quite unlikely you ever will.

For some reason, this American band isn't very big and it was quite fortunate that I managed to hear it on the local airwaves. And ever since I heard this 1 song alone, I fell in love with it. I do hope the band earns greater success.

I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
Melee - Built To Last

My Personal Favorite...Songs

I used to love listening to this song but I had forgotten the name of it in the last few years. It took me a while to find this song again. Now that I have found it, I want to share it with all of you. Yeah, the lyrics aren't suitable for everyone (R-Rated), so, you kids have been warned.

To all others, enjoy, and Happy New Year!

Afroman - Dirty Rap

My Personal Favorites - Cosplay

I must say, and I think you'd agree, that the cosplayers are getting REALLY GOOD! I came across the following bunch which I thought were great and must be shared.

Staring with the Batman Family:
Batman's future version, Batman Beyond
Batman's most trusted lieutenant, Nightwing
The one who broke the bat - Bane (female version)
Meow - need we say more?
Batgirl, or should I say Oracle?

Another of Batman's most trusted lieutenants, Robin.

Why so serious?
Almost as crazy as her idol, Harlequin.
Soon to be on the Big Screen, Wonder Woman. This one looks GREAT!
(Dark?) Supergirl
DC's biggest Bad@$$ Deathstroke
Hmmmm.
Star Sapphire. Double hmmmm. The Comedian (female version) from the Watchmen.
Now we go to the Marvel guys.
Victor Von Doom once said, "Pain is for lesser men."
What is it about super-heroes falling for Cat-themed females?
Classic Hawkeye.Mystique, movie versions.
Psylocke, hopefully, we'll see her in an upcoming X-Men movie.
We all know the Black Widow from the Avengers.
Gamora, most recently seen in Guardians of the Galaxy.
Elektra, from Daredevil or her own movie.
And then we have a few Non-Marvel/DC characters whom I thought also look fantastic.
Kratos, from the game God of War & Hellboy from Dark Horse Comics

And now, some of the femme fatales:
Ariel, the little Mermaid.

Elsa from Frozen.
And Jessica, the wife (yup, you read that right) of Roger Rabbit.
