Out of action - Mar 2024

I had been out of action for a few months. Not bed-ridden out of action but constantly tired out due to lack of sleep.

I had a persistent cough that gets really aggressive at night (11pm-4am) and disrupts sleep. There were a couple of times that I didn’t manage to sleep at all and the following day was basically gone. 

I noticed the cough sometime in early Dec 2023, maybe around Dec 6 or Dec 7. Since then, I'd been to see several General Practitioners and finally to the ENT Specialist after none of the meds work (incl. 2 rounds of anti-biotics). 

So back to my ENT, Dr Koay Cheng Boon (https://jmerb.blogspot.com/2017/12/my-journey-5-years-after-being.html). 

After a CT Scan, he concluded that I had severe bacteria & mucus infection across my entire face (sinuses). My situation was made worse by my deviated septum and perpetually swollen nasal turbinates. Making it hard to even breathe when cough aggressively at night.

So I had to undergo a procedure to correct these 3 situations.

1) Septoplasty - Straighten my deviated septum (S-Shaped)

2) Turbinectomy - Reduce my swollen nasal turbinates

3) Endscopic Sinus Surgery - Clear the infected sinuses

I was admitted to the Sunway Medical Centre on 10 Mar 2024 and had my operation done on 11 Mar. The procedure took maybe approx. 1 hour. I was looking at the clock when the Anaesthetist put me under at 3.50pm. I was completely out. When I woke up, I was out of the Operating Theatre and it was 5.25pm.

Then was discharged the next day on 12 Mar 2024. 

 I thank & praise God that the operation went smoothly and need not stay another night at the hospital for observation.
